Set aside for 1 hour. Separate berries from liquid, reserving both. In a medium bowl, cream together the butter and 1⁄4 cup sugar until light and fluffy. Beat in the eggs one at a time. Stir in vanilla. Combine flour, baking soda, salt and nutmeg in medium bowl. Stir flour mixture into creamed mixture alternating with reserved berry juice. Gently stir in berries.
